My Hero is
Millie

Amelia “Millie” Claire Mracek was a bright light from the very beginning. She was endlessly curious, full of life, and had a way of making people feel seen and loved. Her days were filled with play, imagination, music, preschool adventures, and chasing stars with her family through a backyard telescope. She especially loved caring for her little brother, making him laugh, teaching him new things, and proudly reminding her parents, “Don’t worry, mommy, I’ve got my eye on my brother.”

She also had a soft spot for popsicles, savoring them as a little joy during some of her hardest moments. Everything changed on May 1, 2020, when Millie woke up with the right side of her face drooping. After weeks of tests, she was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer with a tumor at the base of her skull that had spread to her lungs. Millie faced treatment with bravery and spirit, showing up in her Mighty Millie shirt and cape and bringing smiles even when her strength faded. After fighting for 10 months during covid, Millie passed away in February 2021 at just three and a half years old. Millie’s light has sparked a movement that continues to grow. In her honor, the Mighty Millie Foundation now serves thousands of organic popsicles to children fighting cancer across the country, spreading small moments of big joy for some of the bravest kids on earth.
