Logan is our bright, kind, and resilient 14-year-old son. In October 2023, our world turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML), a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Overnight, our healthy, active boy was thrust into a reality of hospital rooms, procedures, and powerful medications.
In an instant, normal life disappeared. School, sports, and carefree childhood days were replaced with lab draws, chemotherapy, and side effects no child should ever have to endure. Yet from the very beginning, Logan faced every step of this journey with a strength and bravery far beyond his years.
Through this journey, Cure was there when we needed hope the most. Their commitment to funding research, raising awareness, and supporting families reminded us we were never alone. Childhood cancer is isolating, but Cure gave us strength and encouragement during our darkest days.
On July 1st, 2024, Logan rang the
bell to celebrate the end of treatment and remission. That sound marked not just the end of a chapter, but the beginning of hope for a brighter future. Logan is more than his diagnosis. He is a son, a brother, a friend, and our hero. He loves video games, making people laugh, and now dreams of becoming a nurse one day, inspired by the amazing nurses who cared for him throughout his treatment.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Gold represents every child who has fought, is still fighting, or has been forever remembered. We share Logan’s story not only to honor him, but also to raise awareness of the reality families face. Childhood cancer receives only 4% of federal cancer research funding, yet it remains the leading cause of death by disease for children. Our kids deserve safer treatments, better research, and cures.
???? Logan, we are endlessly proud of you. You are and always will be our hero. ????
