My Hero is
Lake

Lake was diagnosed with AML in 2012 at the age of 5. He bravely fought for 3 years, which included 2 relapses and a bone marrow transplant. Throughout treatment, he stayed positive and always wanted to be a part of everything. After his second relapse, we heard the words that no parent ever wants to hear, “There is nothing else we can do.” Lake lived out the end of his life doing everything he loved, even getting to live out his dream of playing basketball with the Hawks. On May 1st, 2015, Lake went to be with Jesus. We miss him every day, but we find hope in knowing he is healed and that we will see him again. It comforts us when we are able to help others facing what we did in his memory. His legacy will live on through children who are able to be cured of cancer because of the generosity of those who loved him so much.

Live Like Lake!

“It changes you forever. You can’t unsee the horrific side of childhood cancer”.

– Anna, Lake’s mom
