My Hero is
Cooper

Cooper is a 6 month happy little guy with 2 older brothers. So he knows no peace at home. Since he was born it’s been a wild ride he spent 12 days in the NICU.
At 3.5 months old in June, Cooper was sent by ambulance to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital after a choking episode with a brief unresponsive period. There it was discovered he had high calcium. They did multiple blood tests and a kidney ultrasound where they found a 4.5 cm mass on his left kidney. We were transferred to base or downtown to the oncology unit. Cooper had surgery to remove kidney and tumor. Less than a week later we found out it was a malignant Rhabdoid tumor. One of the most aggressive rare cancers a young child can get. We immediately started treatment, scans, and getting our central line placed. We are currently on cycle 3, and have finished 21 days of radiation. Recently they discovered another lesion on his brain. We just spent the last 6 weeks inpatient getting treated for VOD, with a 21 day medication cycle. This past week we had surgery to place the Ommaya reservoir for IT chemo that will start in a few weeks, and cycle 4 of our regimen starts next week. We finally went home this week after a long stay in the hospital. Cooper is the strongest most resilient little guys I know. He always has a smile on his face, and knows no stranger. He has touched so many lives already, and has so many people praying for him from all over.
