My Hero is
Christian

This is Christian. At the age of 14 he was in and out of doctor appointments, emergency rooms, trying to get to the bottom of his frequent headaches and random rashes. In August of 2009, he was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. He lost his ability to walk around October of 2009 related to a surgery to remove a tumor that was wrapped around his spinal cord. Prior to his diagnosis, he was always outside. He was a skater, and we remember his dreams of being a professional one. Even when he lost his ability to walk, he mustered up the strength day in and day out to find a way again, to learn how to walk once again. But, he never complained. And he often was caught saying “it’s all good”. He passed away at the age of 15 in 2010. Today, he would be 30 years old. We remember him for the kindness he shared and the strength he showed. We are reminded of his resilience that although life can be tumultuous, heartbreaking, and not go as we planned- there is a method to the madness. And, it’s all good.
