As owner of Sweat Society Fitness, Karin combines her Biology degree with her passion for helping people become the best versions of themselves, mind, body, and spirit. CURE’s authenticity, openness, and positivity drew her to the organization, along with her love for children and deep empathy for parents facing childhood cancer. Karin brings extensive community involvement to the SLC, supporting organizations including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Bella Vita Tucson, Helen Keller Foundation, and Direct Relief. She hopes to contribute fresh ideas and awareness efforts that will engage more people and ultimately raise more funds for childhood cancer research. Karin shares three incredible sons with her AMAZING husband, Byron, along with one lazy lab named Lola. When not focused on fitness or community service, she enjoys wine, laughing, and anything fun!
As Managing Partner of Atkinson Consulting, Byron specializes in emergency management and disaster recovery, supporting FEMA’s hurricane recovery efforts along the east coast. Byron’s commitment to The CURE honors his longtime childhood friend, Jeff Godbehere, who lost his battle with cancer shortly after high school. As a father of three boys, he believes there’s no better cause to support than finding cures for childhood cancer. A Richmond Hill resident, Byron brings fundraising and outreach experience as a former board member of United Way of Coastal Empire. He also supports Child Advocacy Services SEGA for child abuse prevention. Byron enjoys boating, family time, and admittedly bad karaoke with friends.
