“Over a decade when I first began reporting, I covered the stories of several children diagnosed with cancer. Doctors couldn’t pinpoint why so many children were being diagnosed with cancer. A mother of a two-year-old boy diagnosed with testicular cancer shared her story and their challenges. Her son was fighting for his life, but his smile never left his face. When I met Matt Gephardt and he shared his story with me, he reminded me so much of the strength of the toddler who smiled in the face of so much uncertainty. I’m excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. My desire has always been to leave this world much better for my daughter than what I inherited.
