This Opportunity (Job Description):
Reporting to the VP, South Georgia, the Development Manager, a remote, home-based position in the Augusta, GA area, is a fundraising role responsible for generating and growing philanthropic support for CURE Childhood Cancer in Augusta and the surrounding areas. This position plays a critical role in expanding CURE’s presence in the community while building a sustainable pipeline of donors, partners, advocates, and fundraising opportunities that generate meaningful support for CURE’s mission.
This role is responsible for meeting and exceeding annual fundraising goals through a balanced approach that includes individual giving, community engagement, third-party fundraising initiatives, corporate partnerships, and donor cultivation. Success in this role requires a proactive, relationship-driven professional who is skilled at building authentic connections, identifying opportunities for engagement, and helping individuals and organizations connect to CURE’s mission in meaningful ways.
The Development Manager will work to engage supporters based on how they feel most compelled to participate, whether through personal giving, community fundraising, sponsorship, volunteer leadership, event participation, or long-term philanthropic partnership.
This position requires strong organizational skills, initiative, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering an exceptional experience for donors, volunteers, and community partners.
The role requires regular travel throughout the region for donor meetings, community engagement activities, fundraising events, and volunteer leadership opportunities, as well as occasional travel to CURE’s Atlanta and Savannah offices and organizational events.
Your Impact (Responsibilities):
The CURE Fund
The CURE Fund encompasses all philanthropic support not generated through fundraising events, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate support, and community partnerships. Key responsibilities include:
- Work with CURE’s Director, Individual Giving to develop and execute strategies that grow philanthropic support throughout Augusta and the surrounding areas.
- Build and manage a portfolio of donors, prospects, businesses, and community leaders, creating meaningful relationships that lead to increased engagement and financial support.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward support from individuals, businesses, and community organizations, with increasing focus on recurring, annual, major, and corporate giving opportunities.
- Conduct donor visits, presentations, and outreach activities that deepen relationships, communicate impact, and advance philanthropic investment in CURE’s mission.
- Develop and implement stewardship and engagement strategies that strengthen donor retention, inspire long-term support, and create exceptional donor experiences.
- Expand CURE’s visibility and philanthropic network throughout the Augusta community by building relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, professional associations, and community leaders.
- Consistently meet or exceed established fundraising goals and performance metrics related to portfolio growth, donor engagement, and revenue generation.
Community Engagement & Third-Party Fundraising
Community fundraising efforts are organized and led by community members, businesses, schools, and organizations to benefit CURE. These initiatives play an important role in expanding awareness, deepening community engagement, and generating philanthropic support. Key responsibilities include:
- Establish, grow, and manage community-organized fundraising efforts throughout the Augusta area, with accountability for achieving and exceeding annual participation and revenue goals.
- Collaborate closely with CURE’s Events teams in Atlanta and South Georgia to implement best practices, evaluate opportunities, prioritize high-impact fundraising initiatives, and ensure community fundraising efforts align with organizational goals and revenue objectives.
- Identify, recruit, and cultivate new third-party fundraising partners, including businesses, schools, civic organizations, community groups, and individual supporters.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for community fundraising partners, providing guidance, encouragement, and ongoing support to help maximize success.
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the reach, visibility, and impact of third-party fundraising initiatives throughout the region.
- Equip fundraising partners with tools, resources, promotional support, and fundraising best practices to enhance participation and revenue generation.
- Strengthen relationships with existing supporters and fundraising partners to encourage continued involvement, long-term engagement, and increased support over time.
- Lead Augusta-based Childhood Cancer Awareness Month initiatives, including key partnerships, yard flag sales and distribution, and other community activation opportunities.
- Partner with the Patient Family Services Coordinator, Augusta, to identify strategic outreach opportunities that increase community awareness, engagement, and support for CURE’s mission.
Signature Event Leadership
Catie’s Gathering Augusta is CURE’s signature fundraising event in the Augusta market and an important source of revenue, community engagement, and awareness. This role will work closely with CURE’s South Georgia Events team to support the growth and success of the event while assuming increasing leadership and responsibility over time. Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with the Development Director, Events, South Georgia, to plan, execute, and grow Catie’s Gathering Augusta, contributing to the achievement of sponsorship, auction, attendance, revenue, and guest experience goals.
- Assume increasing responsibility for the event’s fundraising performance, volunteer engagement, committee leadership, and overall success, with the long-term goal of serving as the primary market lead for Catie’s Gathering Augusta.
- Recruit, engage, and help lead an event committee of volunteers and community leaders to support sponsorship acquisition, auction procurement, hostess table sales, community engagement, and event promotion.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward event sponsors, auction donors, and other event supporters to maximize revenue and strengthen community involvement.
- Collaborate with the South Georgia Events team on event planning and execution, including venue selection, vendor management, timelines, budgets, logistics, and on-site operations.
- Monitor fundraising performance, sponsorship commitments, auction procurement, and event revenue, helping ensure achievement of budget and financial goals.
- Ensure an exceptional experience for sponsors, donors, volunteers, committee members, and guests before, during, and after the event, fostering long-term engagement and support for CURE.
Operations & Collaboration
Strong execution, collaboration, and accountability are essential to success in this role. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate and timely donor, fundraising, and engagement records in Raiser’s Edge, GiveSmart, and other organizational systems.
- Monitor fundraising performance, donor activity, and community engagement metrics, using data and insights to identify opportunities, guide strategy, and support revenue growth.
- Develop and maintain fundraising plans, pipelines, and activity tracking to ensure consistent progress toward established goals.
- Collaborate across development, marketing, events, and patient family services teams to strengthen community presence, donor engagement, and organizational impact.
- Communicate proactively regarding priorities, opportunities, fundraising activities, and relationship development efforts, ensuring alignment and effective teamwork across departments.
- Recruit, engage, and steward volunteers throughout the Augusta region, connecting them with meaningful opportunities to support fundraising events, community initiatives, family programs, awareness activities, and other efforts that advance CURE’s mission.
- Consistently demonstrate professionalism, initiative, accountability, and follow-through while managing multiple projects, relationships, and deadlines.
What You’ll Bring (Skills and Qualifications):
Fundraising Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, business development, relationship management, community engagement, sales, or partnership development. Candidates should demonstrate success building relationships, generating revenue, and growing support through a variety of fundraising channels.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $60,000–$75,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
