Prior to joining CURE in 2018, Karen worked in recruiting and family experience roles at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. After her oldest daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at age 16, Karen became deeply involved in the childhood cancer community. Today, Katie is a thriving survivor, living life to the fullest.
Karen leads CURE’s Patient & Family Services team, overseeing programs including the Family Emergency Fund, Counseling and Family Support, Bereavement Services, the Open Arms Meal Program, and many other initiatives that provide hope and practical support to families facing childhood cancer. She is passionate about ensuring every family feels seen, supported, and cared for while continuing to advance CURE’s mission until the day no child is diagnosed with cancer.
Karen and her husband, Tony, are enjoying this new season of life as empty nesters, sharing their home with their beloved dogs while their younger children, Justin and Carly, experience college life, and watching Katie embrace all the adventures of her twenties
