Amanda joined CURE in 2023 as the Community Engagement Manager for South Georgia. Previously, she spent the last 20 years as a certified pediatric oncology nurse. During this time, she developed a passion for caring for patients and their families undergoing a pediatric cancer journey. While working at the bedside, she saw the need for increased education for families and petitioned her local hospital to implement the first-ever pediatric oncology nurse navigator position. She held this position for ten years, working closely with patients and families, providing education and coordination regarding what to expect during and after their cancer journey. In this role, she witnessed first-hand how CURE’s Patient and Family Services programs alleviated many undue burdens for them.
Amanda considers working with pediatric oncology patients to be her true life’s calling, so it felt like a gift to join CURE’s team and work towards its overall mission. Every patient and family has made a lasting impact on her both personally and professionally, and she will use those experiences to help raise awareness and funding with CURE. She believes everyone can make a difference in the lives of others and will work to show individuals how they can do it.
