Scott Mercer serves as Vice President of Sales and External Affairs at Gateway Terminals, where he leads the company’s commercial strategy, customer engagement, governmental affairs, and external relations. He manages key customer relationships, negotiates customer contracts and rate agreements, and identifies opportunities that support the company’s growth. He leads the company’s governmental affairs and advocacy efforts, serving as a non-partisan resource for policymakers and key stakeholders throughout the State of Georgia and at the federal level. Through this work, he helps advance issues important to Gateway Terminals and strengthen Savannah’s position as a critical gateway for international trade. He also oversees Gateway Terminals’ charitable giving and community engagement efforts by representing the company on external boards and leadership committees. Through these responsibilities, he works to align Gateway Terminals’ commercial, community, industry, and government relationships with the company’s operational priorities and long-term growth strategy.
