The Inspiration for the Climb to Cure
Lendmark CEO Bobby Aiken has held a close bond with the Madren family for years. At age 13, Chip Madren was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer (Metastatic Anaplastic Medulloblastoma) and was given a slim chance of survival. With the help of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), years of treatments, and the support of loved ones, Chip beat the odds and defeated his cancer! Inspired by Chip’s endurance and the small army of dedicated people and resources who helped, Bobby was motivated to find a way to give back.

CURE is committed to funding the Precision Medicine Program (PMP) at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Precision Medicine is a game-changer for children with cancer. Where traditional cancer treatment for children and teens has failed and treatment options are limited at best, precision medicine offers a new opportunity.

Each year, more than 17,000 children and young adults are diagnosed with cancer—that’s about 46 per day. Though the 5-year-survival rate for childhood cancers has reached 80 percent, nearly 2,000 kids under age 19 die each year, making cancer the leading cause of death by disease in children. And that’s just in the United States. More than 300,000 kids and young adults are diagnosed worldwide. Less than 4% of Federal funding for research is allocated toward finding a cure for cancers that affect children. We need your help in the fight, and the money we raise together will fund lifesaving research and supporting families affected by childhood cancer.
